The Troupe
An all-American troupe of professionally trained performers, coming together with a shared love for the universal language of dance.

Sanam Studios Dancers was founded in February 2006 by Sanam Azeem — a CID/UNESCO certified choreographer, cultural ambassador, and one of the foremost voices in Pakistani folk dance in the United States. What began as a passion project became one of Atlanta's most recognized multicultural performance troupes, with over 25 million YouTube views and a performance history spanning the US, Canada, and Europe.
Our dancers come from every background. What unites them is a deep respect for the cultures they represent. Every dance form we perform is learned with authenticity — from the footwork to the folklore behind it. Our costumes are sourced directly from the regions they represent; some are over 100 years old and were crafted by the very communities whose traditions they honor.
Over nearly two decades, Sanam Studios has performed at US consulates, diplomatic receptions, international festivals, university campuses, television studios, corporate galas, and community celebrations. In 2023 we were invited by the International Dance Council — a UNESCO partner — to represent Pakistan at the 60th World Congress of Dance Research in Athens, Greece, where Sanam was awarded the CID/UNESCO International Certification of Dance Studies for all 8 regional folk dances of Pakistan.
We have never stopped dancing — not even through COVID, when we performed outdoors in masks to keep our community connected. That spirit is who we are.

In Chicago, a mother waited in line after our performance to introduce us to her little daughter. After seeing our photo on the event flyer, this little girl insisted on wearing her cultural dress and jewelry to the event.
She stayed backstage in the heat for hours. Every time we ran off stage to change costumes, she was standing there with a big smile on her face. She finally got to dance with us.
And that is everything.
